The Great Blue Heron Charity Casino in Port Perry Ontario will be adding a major tournament to their 2012 lineup. Titled the GBH Island Poker Series Main Event Tournament, this will be a $2100 buyin, $240,000 estimated prize pool 2 day event taking place on Thursday May 31, 2012 (10am) and concluding Friday June 1 (12pm). This will be a major boost for Ontario poker tournaments, something that is lacking when compared with their western counterparts.
Players playing this 2 day tournament will have 15,000 starting chips with 30 minute blinds on Day 1, and 45 minute blinds on Day 2. There will be 120 max seats, and mega satellites will begin starting in January. The dates for the mega satellites are Jan 12, Jan 26, Feb 9, Feb 23, Mar 8, Mar 22, Apr 5, and Apr 18 all starting at 10am. They will be $275 buyins with $8000 starting chips and 30 min blinds.
